How to Outsource

Now you have identified that you are struggling and would like to outsource, but how do you go about this and how do you know what to outsource and what to do yourself? Read more on How to Outsource below.

1: Establish your Personal and Business goals

Are you wanting to outsource simply because you don’t like a task? You could find better use for your time? Or is it a focus for you to spend more time with the family? Start with this and you can really dig down into what you NEED in order for you to find the right person to fill the role. Make an extensive list of the tasks that could potentially be outsourced, do think of things that are easily outsourced, not ones that require a ton of training.

2: Look for a VA who specialises in your niche

Once you have established exactly what you are looking for, you can start to look for a VA that specialises in the task that you want to outsource, or the niche of your business. For example, I am adept at any administration task but particularly in the wedding industry as that is where my expertise is. I also have experience in Pinterest, and this could be useful across many different industries. Be clear on what it is that is important to you.

3: Be clear on how you like to work

There will be lots of choice in VA’s and its important that you share the same way of working: do you like weekly communication? Do you just want them to use their own initiative? Come up with a list of ways that you prefer to work. I like to work on a weekly task list and that way it gives me the flexibility that I need to get the work done.

4: Decide what you need help with and when

It will be very useful for you to have an idea of tasks and time it will take to complete them at your first meeting. Most VA’s will have a minimum hours that they will offer, for example mine is 2 hours per week. It will also be a way to determine if the VA will meet your requirements in terms of ability.

5: The Decision

Once you have found your perfect fit, do make sure that the VA has the correct insurance and contracts in place. This is of utmost importance and should not be overlooked! You want to make sure that your VA is professional and adhering to all of the GDPR laws, they should also provide you with an ICO number to show that they are registered.
