Pinterest Idea Pins – WHAT ARE THEY?

Pinterest Idea Pins are a fairly new addition to the Pinterest suite. They used to be called β€˜story’ pins and they perform a similar function as stories on Instagram, although they are permanent on Pinterest. The idea pin will live on your boards so you can really get some visibility, unlike a 24hour Instagram story.

Another huge plus point is that they are not just limited to your followers but to the home feed, so you never know who may see your pin and share it,

The idea [excuse the pun!] is to encourage interaction and can be made up of video and also stills [like an Instagram carousel] They are said to be seeing up to 9 times the engagement of a standard pin.

Shopping engagement grew on Pinterest in 2021 by 20%, you owe it to yourself and your product or your service to get yourself out there and onto Pinterest. 75% of users are in the mood to shop! Let’s get yourself noticed. Ideas Pins are a perfect way to showcase your knowledge or your products, let see how.

The first thing you need, is an IDEA! And the following are ways that you can utilise the function. Have a brainstorm about what are your clients pain points, what might they be searching for? What product or service do you have that may help them with this? Once you have some ideas to work with, have a think as to how this could translate into your ideas pin.

PRODUCT CREATION

Fantastic for step by step on product creation, tell a story through the different slides. How about a behind the scenes? People love to see the action going on.

HOW TO CREATE an IDEA PIN

One thing that you can’t do is schedule idea pins, so you will need to go directly to Pinterest to create your pin. Click create, and then idea pin and follow the easy instructions. You also cannot link these, so they are an engagement and inspiration tool only. Do add a clear call to action with your final slide.

I am yet to try the video idea pins but plan to very soon, I would love to know what you create for you idea pins!
