Five Common Pinterest Mistakes

Five common Pinterest mistakes, and how to solve them!

As a virtual assistant, I often help people with their Pinterest accounts, and these are some common mistakes that I come across. Pinterest is an essential tool for SEO in today’s creative business market. Pinterest is a search tool, like google so if you are not using Pinterest for your business, you should be!

INCORRECT SIZING

Pinterest will give you a prompt regarding size BUT it won’t stop you from posting the wrong size! Once you have uploaded your image, click on the EDIT symbol, then select the 2:3 ratio and click SAVE CHANGES.

BUSINESS PROFILE

Do ensure that you have a business account and not a personal one. Pinterest will potentially shut your account down if you are a business using a personal account. You can easily switch or create a new business one if you want to keep your personal account. There are some fabulous advantages to having a business profile; you can claim your domain, so it links to your website. You have access to the tools and analytics to check your strategy is working, these are just a few!

KEYWORDS

As mentioned previously, Pinterest is a search engine, therefore it is imperative you do your key word research and use good quality, well thought out words. Ensure that they relate to your topic and are being found by your potential clients. Do not be spammy! I approach this by thinking what my ideal client is likely to type into Pinterest.

PIN QUALITY

Do make sure that your pins are well thought out, good quality and relate to the topic that you are talking about. If you unsure about this step, you can purchase Pin templates that will get you started.

NOT BEING CONSISTENT

Not to put to finer point on it, this is the key to most social media and SEO strategies. You need to be consistent posting, not once a week and pin 70 posts! This takes time, its not an overnight thing, it takes months of being consistent, even when you think no one is watching, keep it up!!!

If you struggle with this element, do consider a Pin scheduler such as Tailwind. It’s easy and relatively inexpensive, it is also Pinterest approved. I hope this has been helpful, please do let me know if I can help in anyway, click HERE to see how.
