Overwhelm, Productivity and Positivity
Overwhelm, Productivity and Positivity, are areas that I love to help my clients with. Especially on a damp, grey Tuesday – which it is today. I think we could all do with a pep talk and reminder from time to time as its only to easy to get bogged down with work and indeed the events going on around us.

I am stepping away from Pinterest this week as a change is as good as a rest! Don’t worry, I will be back on it next week.
I don’t know about you, but I am a worrier…. Of epic proportions! If I don’t have something to worry about, well I will just find something!!!The news at the moment I find utterly terrifying and will keep me awake at night. I am also planning my wedding, so anything and everything will disturb my sleep.
A lot of colleagues have spoken of overwhelm this year and we have only just started the wedding season, so here are a few tips to help get you unstuck.
OVERWHELM
When we have a lot of things on our minds we do tend to go overboard and get overwhelmed in the now, for example, ‘I have millions of emails to get through, I have to get this blog post done that I haven’t even started, I need to get that report across to my boss, I need to cook dinner’
Investigate the tasks one at a time, do you really have a million emails? (if you do, I think you may need my help!!!) Or would it take an hour to focus and get through them? The majority of overwhelm can be set at ease by getting some clarity [words from Jen Sincero] https://jensincero.com/
Break down these tasks one by one provides laser focus to get one task done at a time.
Jen says ‘Facing the task of writing an entire book will make you want to lie down in the road; sitting down to write one chapter is exciting’
I highly recommend that you pick up Jen Sincero’s books! She is an oracle on this stuff!!
TIMEBLOCKING
I have spoken about this previously, but I cannot emphasise enough the difference this makes to my day. As a friend once said to me, you can’t eat an elephant in one bite! Breaking your goals down into monthly, weekly then daily is a fantastic way to have clear, achievable goals.
Set yourself up with a spreadsheet, or download mine, to really get focussed, I tend to do this weekly, but would strongly suggest the night before if you can’t commit to doing weekly.
A game changer for me was buying a timer (mines pink, surprise!!!) But writing out my goals and setting a timer gives me that laser focus to get things done, even when I am short of time and have zillions of things to do.
POSITIVITY
I don’t know whether any of you have come across that annoying person that whenever you are down or stressed shouts ‘PMA’ in your face? I have….. an ex used to do this all the time and I can’t say it was overly helpful! BUT, positive thinking does have a huge impact on our lives, It is not just a one of shouting in someone’s face, but a way of life. One of the best ways to incorporate this is to be mindful of what your internal dialogue is telling you and to flip it round to a positive sentence. For example, ‘I can’t do this’ to ‘I can and will do this’
Personally, I start the day with Gratitude, just 3 things that I am grateful for, such as ‘I cam grateful for my lovely warm bed, I am blessed to have food on my plate, I am so thankful for my business’
Write them down and FEEL grateful and there will be no room for negative thoughts.
