Why Do I Need to Blog?
Why Do I Need to Blog?
If you are in the creative industries or running a small business, you may ask the question ‘why do I need to blog?’ In this blog post I will share with you the top reasons that writing a blog will help your small business.
I am assuming that you have an online presence in the form or a website, but simply having a website is not going to bring you clients! You need to actively promote this and to try and get on the first page of google using SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) One of the keyways to do this is to blog, a regularly updated website encourages google to find you.

Establish Authority & Attract an Audience
The point of a blog is to position yourself as the expert in your field, you are sharing your knowledge freely, to attract your ideal client to buy from you. This is known as the ‘Know, Like, Trust’ factor. Remember that you are writing for your client and not yourself! Giving value and knowledge is what google loves too – so ensure that the content you write is well researched and good quality. Quality is much more beneficial here than quantity.
I think it stands to reason that if you give away knowledge for free, people will grow to know you and love what you represent and are more likely to want to know more, and to buy from you.
Build engagement and get to know your audience.
Blog about subjects that will engage your audience and encourage discussion. This is a perfect way to interact with your followers. Content does not need to be controversial, just interesting and a conversation starter. You are building the ‘Know, Like, Trust’ factor and putting your true self out there for people to get to know.
Use your blog content to repurpose onto other social platforms: linkedIn, Google my business, facebook etc. You can use the whole thing or break it down into snippets to post on different platforms. If you follow me on Instagram, you will notice that I will use the subjects that I blog about to make reels and content.
SEO
Every time you publish a blog, you are adding another page to your website which gives Google and other search engines reason to re crawl your website. Ensure that you have the correct Keywords and Meta Descriptions to really make the most of the blog.
Stand out in the crowd.
Studies show that only 1percent of internet users actively create new content which means that 99percent are there to read it! Standing out is essential in a competitive market so if you want to show up and stand out get blogging!
Use videos, podcasts and interviews to really stand out – Google adores video too. Use it as part of your marketing strategy to promote new products or services.
It doesn’t matter what your business is, you need to blog. I love to be creative with content and am happy to have a chat to see what we can come with!
Alternatively, if you don’t have the time to blog, then please do get in touch as it’s a passion of mine and I would love to help you.
