How to come up with blog content

I know I am always going on about blogging, but I’m here to share with you how to come up with blog content. Its not as difficult or arduous as you may think. I tend to use an excel spreadsheet, but you can use a system such as Trello or Click up to organise this. (We will cover these on another blog, another day!)
WHO IS IT FOR?
First and foremost, think about WHO you are writing your blog for, because essentially it is for them. WHO? Your ideal client of course! If you haven’t done this work yet, you really need to!
Once this is clearly established, think about what they would ask you, what do they want to know? And how can you answer showing your expertise? You are here to essentially solve a problem for your ideal client, what are their pain points?
A great way to do this is to look at social media, what are your ideal clients talking about? What problems are they having? For example, you are a wedding professional, what are your brides talking about? One common topic that I have seen is that brides have gone off their dress since they have had too many postponements – How can you help here and what advice would you give?
Next step, I would make an excel spreadsheet and brain dump anything that comes to mind. We will come back to this later.
CONTENT PILLARS
These pillars are themes or topics that you want to talk to your audience about and they need to be in tune with your brand and voice. For example, if you have a travel blog, your pillars might be reviews, testimonials of service and travel tips. For a wedding blog you might have advice, testimonials and venue highlights. This will help you plan your content and ensure that you are fulfilling your content pillars that you have chosen as these should speak to your ideal client.
Now you will go back to the spreadsheet and add your pillars in and allocate the topics.
GET WRITING
Now you have your ideas, when you need to get a blog written, you should have a bank of topics to choose from. Ensure that your blog is written with your keywords in mind and don’t forget to make some of them relevant to local news so that you can rank for searches. Always write thoughtfully and take you time to ensure that what you are putting out there is great quality and of great value to your audience. Where possible include external AND internal links and finish off with a call to action.
